FIND FREEDOM THROUGH MOVEMENT

Colours in Contact is a Toronto-based movement community where people come to explore contact improvisation, authentic expression, and meaningful human connection. Through weekly classes and jams, learning series, community events and private coaching, we create spaces where movement becomes a pathway to confidence, creativity, presence, and belonging.

Whether you're brand new or an experienced mover, you're invited. This is a space to build confidence, explore your edges, deepen your relationships, and discover new ways of relating to yourself, to others, and to the unknown. Come as you are, follow your curiosity, and experience the grounding, aliveness, freedom, and joy that emerge through movement exploration.

Colours in Contact is a truly special place and holds a permanent space in my heart. I found CIC in 2023 through a beginner foundations workshop, and learning contact improvisation (CI) and partnered movement explorations in this space since then has been a life-changing experience. Emma and Pablo have created an offering that is genuinely accessible to people of all backgrounds and skill levels, while opening real portals of creativity, connection, and embodied presence. CIC has played a meaningful role in my PTSD recovery, helping me reconnect not only with my body, but with different parts of myself and with community. Along the way, I’ve built lasting friendships, and every interaction in a CIC space has been filled with heart. Beyond this, Colours in Contact holds an important place in the lineage of contact improvisation in North America, as it actively challenges the legacy and ongoing patterns of whiteness and exclusion in CI and dance culture by centring equity, accessibility, and the lived experiences of BIPOC and queer communities through practice that is felt, embodied, and truly celebrated.

Movement that is freeing,
connecting and inclusive.

To make it easy and supportive to step into contact improvisation, our new dancer promo is designed as a soft landing into the practice and our community. You’ll receive your own pair of kneepads along with a 3-jam pass, giving you space to explore, move, and get a feel for Colours in Contact.
